1. What is Vietnam evisa?

Vietnamese visa is a kind of travel documents granted by Vietnamese competent authorities, providing permission to travel to and enter Vietnam.

An electronic Vietnam visa (or Vietnam E-visa) is one of visa types issued to foreigners by Vietnamese Immigration Department via electronic system. Vietnam E-visa is valid for maximum of 30 days, single entry.

2. Which countries is Vietnam evisa available for?

Travelers from these 80 countries/ nationalities can apply for Vietnam e-visa:

(Please note this: For China, it will include Hong Kong SAR and Macau SAR passport holders)
(Not apply to Chinese e-passport holders, i.e a passport having its number starting with E)
*These information are official from the government. We will keep update if the list is changed.

3. How to apply for Vietnam evisa?

Outside Vietnam foreigners who want to enter Vietnam can personally apply for e-visa or through the inviting/guaranteeing agencies and organizations.

a) To apply Vietnam evisa personally, you can visit Vietnam e-visa official website by the government and follow the guides to receive your e-visa (this option is best if you are not in a rush for e-visa). If you want to know every detail of how to apply Vietnam e-visa on government official website, please read this post:

b) To apply through agencies, you can check our Vietnam Evisa Service (Urgent) – (this option is a really great choice if you need a Vietnam evisa within a few hours, or below 2 days)

4. How much does Vietnam evisa cost?

The current fee for Vietnam Evisa is 25 USD. This fee is officially issued from the government. You should not pay more than that unless you need an urgent Vietnam evisa service that helps you to get an evisa within 2 days and below. Or else, don’t waste your money on evisa services if you have more days for the application.

In case you need urgent evisa (below 2 days) and request agency services, the cost of evisa service should not be more than 80 USD (excluding government fee 25 USD). There is only one special case that will cost your evisa more than that:

  • Your nationality is not in the list of Vietnam e-visa
  • You have complicated background
  • You have problems with your own paperwork (ID, passport,…)

5. What are documents needed for e-visa application?

Vietnam Evisa application requires:

  • Passport valid for a few month (6 months and above is recommended)
  • Your portrait photo (6×4), looking straight without glasses
  • Passport data pages: full page including photo, personal information and ICAO lines
  • Your Vietnam travel information, which you will fill during the application

One more requirement: You must not fall into the cases of suspension from entry prescribed in Article 21 of Law on foreigners’ entry into, exit from, transit through, residence in Vietnam (please use Google translate for English version).

6. How much time in advance should I apply for Vietnam evisa?

Most of the time it will take 3-7 working days to process your Vietnam e-visa. That is when you do every step right. Sometimes a mistake in filling the form will cost you another time trying to apply Vietnam e-visa.

That’s why we recommend you apply for the e-visa at least 2-3 weeks before your planned arrival in Vietnam. In that case, you will still have time to apply again if you make any mistake, or counter any problems.

7. Can I do Visa on arrival (VOA) or a more-than-30-days Vietnam evisa?

Unfortunately, at the moment (year 2022, and 2023), Vietnam visa on arrival is not available. There may be some ways to get it but will cost you a lot of time and problems.

For tourist e-visa, it is only available for 30 days time limit (not 60 or 90 days any more like it was before Covid-19). If you would like to spend more time that that in Vietnam, you may need to do a visa run to extend it.

8. How to use your e-visa when you arrive in Vietnam?

You can use your Vietnam evisa to submit at the immigration counter at your port. Remember that the port you arrive (whether it is airport, seaport or landport) must match with the entry port in your Vietnam e-visa. Or else it may cause you trouble entering Vietnam.

Although your application for e-visa is 100% online, you must print your Vietnam e-visa to submit.

9. Which ports in Vietnam can I use e-visa to enter?

Please notice only these PORTS are available for Vietnam e-visa:

Visit List of ports allowing e-visa in Vietnam

10. What if your information in received e-visa is wrong?

Sometimes travelers are confused when they receive an Vietnam e-visa with wrong information. This may be a results of inputting your information not correctly, or someone in the E-visa Department made a mistake.

In that case, you may be advised by some other travelers that it is ok that your e-visa has that problem. However, you should follow the rules of E-visa that no information should be wrong. Sometimes you get lucky that the person at the immigration is easy to let it go. But what if they are not and willing to stop you for a little mistake on your e-visa to ask for money?

Therefore, it is best to ask for official support from Government Immigration Department on official e-visa website. You can click here to visit Vietnam E-visa Support Page of the government.

And if you can’t contact with the government support, or they may not help, it is best to re-apply your Vietnam e-visa. You can click our Detailed guide to apply Vietnam evisa on official government website to do it correctly.

We strongly recommend those 2 ways above so that you can save your money. There is no need to contact any agents for extra fee just because your information is wrong on evisa. However, the 2 ways are only best if you still have time (at least 3-10 days and above) before you enter Vietnam, as both contacting government support and re-applying Vietnam e-visa require a few days for working processes. If you need your e-visa urgently (below 2 days), you can consider our Urgent E-visa Service, which is offered with very good price:
