Da Nang Museum Receives 88 Artifacts from Hai Van Pass Sites
Da Nang Museum received 88 archaeological finds, including a statue under study. The report gives no date for the planned displays.
The Da Nang Museum received 88 archaeological finds on October 5, including a sandstone statue provisionally linked to Champa and dated to around the eighth century. The handover follows excavations at Chon Sang Fort and Nam Chon Station near Hai Van Pass.

What the collection includes
Ten objects came from Chon Sang Fort and 78 from Nam Chon Station. The finds include glazed ceramics, stoneware, terracotta building materials and stone artifacts. The sandstone figure shows a seated person in meditation; possible Cham inscriptions on its back still need study.
The two sites formed part of a Nguyen Dynasty coastal defense system. Archaeologists excavated 600 square meters over 45 days, beginning May 25. The Da Nang Management Board of Monuments and Landscapes said the findings will support further research and heritage-status applications for the sites.
The new finds are not yet a confirmed exhibit
The transfer was for preservation and research. Da Nang Museum director Huynh Dinh Quoc Thien said specialists will compare the objects with historical records, and the museum plans to develop displays and use 3D technology and digitization to make them accessible to visitors. The report does not say when the new objects might go on display, so travelers should not assume they are currently visible.
