Ho Chi Minh City Eyes Standardised Medical-Tourism Services
Officials report hundreds of international patient visits in the first nine months of 2026 while noting gaps in services designed for overseas patients.
Ho Chi Minh City is looking to develop more coordinated, standardised services for international medical patients, according to a 21 October report. The city recorded hundreds of patient visits from Cambodia, Laos, Indonesia and other countries in the first nine months of 2026, the Department of Health said.

A service network is still developing
Dr Huynh Minh Chin, deputy director of the city’s Department of Health, said only a small number of hospitals have dedicated services for international patients, with limited links between healthcare, tourism, accommodation and patient care.
Dr Duong Huy Luong, a deputy director general at the Ministry of Health’s Department of Medical Service Administration, said Vietnam needs specialised medical centres, standardised services and stronger partnerships between hospitals, travel companies and accommodation providers to compete sustainably.
Vietnam’s dental sector receives around 100,000 international patients a year and generates estimated annual revenue of VND3.5 trillion (US$135.3 million). These are national figures.
