Phu Quoc Launches Three-Month Campaign Against Online Travel Scams
A campaign running from October to December 2026 will review tourism businesses and online booking channels; multilingual airport and port QR codes are planned.
Phu Quoc Special Zone in An Giang Province has launched a three-month campaign running from October to December 2026 to prevent, detect, warn against and address fake listings and scams involving accommodation bookings and tourism services online.

Under the plan, local agencies will review accommodation providers, travel agencies, transport operators, restaurants, entertainment venues, individual brokers and businesses offering tourism services. They will also review social media platforms used for booking accommodation and other services on the island.
The tourism rapid-response team is to coordinate multilingual QR codes at airports, ports and websites. The codes are planned to provide warnings and emergency assistance to domestic and foreign tourists facing risks. After the campaign, the local administration plans to assess the results, complete its database and move to regular monitoring.
Separately, the local tourism rapid-response team had received more than 130 reports involving tourists since February 26, 2026. Authorities said they verified reports and assisted 25 foreign tourists who had lost documents or property. The reported assistance included recovering a Chinese tourist’s watch and helping visitors find emergency accommodation.
