Tuyen Quang Sets November 6 Opening for 2026 Buckwheat Flower Festival
Dong Van’s 2026 Buckwheat Flower Festival opens November 6; phased planting is planned across the plateau from October through December.
Dong Van’s 12th Buckwheat Flower Festival is scheduled to open at 8 p.m. on November 6, 2026, at Thanh Nien Square in Dong Van commune, Tuyen Quang. This year’s preparation pairs the plateau’s flower season with local cultural activities before the opening and through the festival period.

Flowers are being planted across the plateau
More than 242 hectares of buckwheat had been planted by early October, out of about 400 hectares planned across 12 communes on the Dong Van Karst Plateau. Sowing is staggered from October through December to extend the season, with the provincial plan aiming for the strongest bloom around the festival opening week. That is a planting plan, not a guarantee that every field will peak on the same dates.
The official festival plan names several viewing areas, including Tham Ma Pass, Pao’s House, Lung Cam Village, the Lung Cu Flag Tower and the Nho Que River area. These sites are spread across the plateau; the schedule does not give a single route or promise identical flower conditions at each stop.
Local activities begin before opening night
Dong Van’s local program lists folk music and cultural exchanges on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from October 18 to November 1. In the Old Quarter, four craft stalls are planned for demonstrations of flute and khèn making, basketry, embroidery and linen weaving. A Trung Nguyen Coffee Night is scheduled for 7 p.m. on October 23 at the commune’s performance centre, and an OCOP and local-produce display is listed for November 3–7 in the Old Quarter.
The main opening is a separate event: a roughly 90-minute stage program at Thanh Nien Square on November 6. The published schedule does not specify admission fees, booking arrangements or visitor transport, so those details should not be inferred from the event dates.
What the dates mean for a visit
For the opening ceremony, plan around the evening of November 6 in Dong Van. Visitors interested in the flowers have a wider October-to-December window, while the phased planting is intended to bring more fields into bloom around opening week. Allow time for travel between plateau locations rather than treating the listed viewpoints as one walkable site.
