Vietnam Posts 17.4% Growth in Australian Trips in Year to August 2026
Australian trips to Vietnam reached 588,490 in the year to August 2026, up 17.4% and 60 below trips to the UK.
Australians made 588,490 trips to Vietnam in the year to August 2026, up 17.4% from a year earlier, the Australian Travel Industry Association’s October Travel Trends Report says. That was 60 fewer than the 588,550 trips to the United Kingdom in the same period. The report draws on Australian Bureau of Statistics overseas-arrivals and departures data.
Vietnam’s growth was especially strong in August: 45,630 trips, up 30.3% year on year. ATIA’s report also says Australia’s overseas travel increased overall, with travel to Asia contributing to the rise.

What the figures tell travelers
Vietnam was close to the United Kingdom in the total number of Australian trips recorded for the period, while its year-on-year growth was positive. The report describes travel to Vietnam as part of a wider increase in Australian trips to Asia; it does not provide a forecast of future bookings.
For central Vietnam, the report points to the mix of coastal resorts and heritage attractions. The Vietnam National Authority of Tourism also cited accessibility and the variety of experiences as attractions for Australian holidaymakers.
