Vietnam and Austria Discuss Tourism Cooperation at Vienna Forum
A Vienna forum explored tourism cooperation and visitor exchanges; the report says no direct flights currently connect Vienna with Vietnam.
The Vietnamese Embassy in Austria hosted the Vietnam–Austria Tourism Forum in Vienna on October 13, 2026, to discuss closer tourism cooperation, visitor exchanges and opportunities for new partnerships.

Visitor exchange and regional promotion
At the forum, Vietnam’s ambassador said the country welcomed more than 21 million international visitors in 2025. Arrivals reached 17.7 million in the first nine months of 2026, up 14.5% year on year, and the country’s target for the full year is about 25 million.
Thanh Hoa vice chairman Mai Xuan Liem presented the province’s historical, cultural and natural attractions. He said Thanh Hoa planned to strengthen destination promotion, assess market demand and develop tourism programmes suited to Austrian travellers.
No direct Vienna–Vietnam flights reported
The report says there are currently no direct flights between Vienna and Vietnam, so travellers often connect through hubs including Frankfurt, Paris, Istanbul or Doha. Forum speakers described better air connectivity as a way to support visitor exchanges, but no airline, route, launch date or schedule was announced.
Participants discussed ways tourism authorities, travel businesses and aviation partners could connect and develop products for both markets.
