Vietnam Records 1.1 Million Russian Tourist Arrivals Through September
Vietnam may receive 1.5 million Russian visitors in 2026, but that full-year figure remains a forecast.
Vietnam recorded 1.1 million Russian tourist arrivals in January–September 2026, more than 160% above the same period a year earlier. Russia was the country’s third-largest inbound market for those nine months, after China and South Korea.

Nikita Kondratiev, an official at Russia’s Ministry of Economic Development, forecasts 1.5 million Russian arrivals by year-end—around twice the pre-pandemic peak of about 700,000 a year.
Vietnam faces increasing competition from China and Thailand for Russian visitors as those destinations expand air connections and tourism services.
More than 370 visitors arrived in Phu Quoc on a direct flight from Russia on September 27, marking the start of the island’s 2026–2027 winter tourism season. See our Phu Quoc flight report.
