Money Exchange in Da Nang and Hoi An: Airport and City Options

If you land at Da Nang International Airport and need dong for the journey to your hotel, Terminal 2 has exchange counters in the public arrivals area on the ground floor. If you already have enough for that first journey, choose your next stop around where you are staying: central Da Nang, the beach side of the Han River, or Hoi An. Hoi An has its own bank offices, so a return trip to Da Nang solely to change money is not the default choice.

Landing at DAD: check the terminal and access zone

The airport’s money-exchange directory lists AUD, CAD, CHF, EUR, GBP, HKD, JPY, KRW, SGD, THB and USD for its exchange service. That is the airport’s published list, not a promise that every counter will accept every note you carry. Ask about your currency, denomination and note condition before handing anything over.

For Terminal 2, the directory shows several ground-floor public-arrivals locations and a second-floor restricted-departures location. A departure-side counter is not an alternative you can simply walk into after landing. Terminal 1’s listed exchange location is in restricted arrivals on the ground floor; do not assume you can return there after leaving the arrivals route.

Vietcombank separately lists appointed agents at counters S-0-17 and S-0-19 in Terminal 2’s ground-floor public arrivals area. These are useful counter identifiers to show the information desk. Neither that bank listing nor the airport page establishes a universal 24-hour cash service, so avoid planning a late arrival around an unconfirmed opening time.

In Da Nang: choose your side of the river

For a weekday bank visit in the city centre, Vietcombank’s Da Nang branch is on Le Loi. On the eastern side, its Nam Da Nang branch is on Tran Hung Dao. The bank’s current directory supplies the following locations and transaction hours:

These are staffed bank offices, not ATM pins. Before travelling there, ask whether the office buys your particular foreign banknotes for VND that day and what identification it requires. The bank’s online rate table is a useful benchmark, but it is not a stock list for each branch. Keep the midday break in mind rather than arriving with an exchange errand between morning sightseeing stops.

For a hotel-based option, Vietcombank’s exchange-agent list includes DLG Da Nang at 258 Vo Nguyen Giap. This establishes a bank-listed agent at that address; it does not establish walk-in eligibility, currencies, counter hours or a better rate. Already in Hoi An? Start with Hoi An offices

Two bank-directory locations near the town are Vietcombank Hoi An on Tran Cao Van and Sacombank’s Hoi An transaction office on Tran Hung Dao:

The current directories may put Hoi An addresses under Da Nang. Use the street and the Hoi An locality when checking your route; do not interpret the administrative label as a downtown Da Nang address.

Vietcombank also lists Anantara Hoi An Resort at 1 Pham Hong Thai and Hoi An Historic Hotel at 10 Tran Hung Dao as exchange agents. Ask the specific reception whether the service is available to you, especially if you are not a hotel guest. A staffed reception does not by itself mean the exchange desk is operating at the same hours.

Compare the amount you receive, including the journey

Ask for the final VND amount for the exact notes you plan to sell, after any charge. Then weigh the difference against the cost and time of getting to another counter. A slightly higher quoted rate across the river or in another town may not justify a dedicated taxi journey. There is no verified citywide “best rate” in this guide.

A jewellery shop’s gold-selling business is not proof of permission to exchange foreign cash.
