Da Nang Plans AI Visitor-Monitoring Cameras for Cham Islands
A 2026–2027 Cham Islands project includes 15 AI camera systems, e-tickets, digital maps and virtual tours. It is a plan, not a new entry rule.
Da Nang plans to invest more than 7.7 billion VND in a digital-tourism project for the Cham Islands during 2026–2027. The proposed system brings together visitor monitoring, entrance-ticket management, digital maps and virtual tours for the island destination off Hoi An.
The announcement describes work planned for the islands, not a newly operating ticket portal or a change in admission rules that travelers must follow today.

Cameras, ticketing and virtual visits
The project includes 15 AI-powered camera systems intended to monitor and analyse tourist density at key locations and alert authorities when needed. Tourism-management software is planned to track visitor numbers, entrance tickets, destinations and monitoring information.
Another part of the project will digitise 19 prominent sites using VR360 technology, with virtual tours and an aerial panoramic view of the Cham Islands. Digital tourism maps and heritage information would sit alongside the visitor-management tools.
The system is also designed to share information with biodiversity, natural-resource and environmental databases at the Cham Islands Marine Protected Area, as well as other municipal systems. The stated direction links tourism management with conservation, rather than treating visitor numbers as the only measure of the destination’s development.
What this means for a visit
For a visitor, the useful distinction is between the proposed digital tools and services already confirmed for a travel date. The report does not announce a new numerical visitor cap, revised entrance fee or compulsory app, and it does not confirm that the camera network or virtual-tour platform has already been installed.
Boat arrangements and the conditions attached to a booked visit should therefore be checked with the current provider. The project itself is not a reason to assume a different departure schedule or to pay through an unverified new ticket website.
Our Cham Island day-trip overview provides separate destination context. If the wider itinerary also includes Hue, MIA Hue Tours is a local planning contact; it is not the operator of this municipal project.
