The hot trending Dragon figure on Nguyen Hue Flower Street
As mentioned in the previous article about the 100-meter-long Dragon figure returning to Nguyen Hue Flower Street, the place is promised to be one of the top things to do in Ho Chi Minh City this Tet 2024. This marks its return after 12 years, symbolizing the zodiac cycle’s completion and showcasing a blend of dragon styles from historical Vietnamese dynasties. Crafted primarily from eco-friendly materials like bamboo and rattan, the dragon installation promises a visually striking experience. Additional attractions include thematic displays and interactive features, enhancing the festive atmosphere with a focus on environmental consciousness.
However, when the article was written, there were just 3D models. On January 31, 2024, the figure is finally revealed to the public, with the construction almost finished.
Newest photos of the construction
On January 31, 2024, Nguyen Hue Flower Street, themed “Spring of Love, Tet of Togetherness” for Tet Giáp Thìn 2024, is buzzing with construction activity. Hundreds of workers are diligently working to bring to life the centerpiece – a pair of enormous dragon figures, named “Lưỡng Long triều liên” (Twin Dragons around the Lotus). These dragons, each spanning over 100 meters with head circumferences exceeding 2 meters, are set to be the largest zodiac symbols ever displayed on the street, creating a striking visual impact.
Other decorations
In addition to the dragon figures, Nguyen Hue Flower Street for the 2024 Lunar New Year also features elaborate scenes like “Spring Dragon Boat,” “Nine Dragon Gate,” “Spring Festival,” and “Crystal Clouds.” These main and intermediate scenes, representing various regions of Vietnam, stretch along 600 meters of Nguyen Hue Walking Street. The decorations incorporate materials familiar to Vietnamese culture such as ceramics, earthen jars, bamboo, ornamental plants, and flowers, with over 70% of the materials being eco-friendly.
