The Ho Tram–Long Thanh urban expressway project officially broke ground on 1 July 2026, according to the Vietnamese Government News report. Its stated completion target is 2029. That is a construction plan, not an opening announcement or a road travelers can assume is available now.
For a current holiday, arrange transport using the airport on your ticket and roads open on your travel date. The project does not make today’s Tan Son Nhat–Ho Tram transfer a 45-minute journey.
What the Groundbreaking Announcement Confirms
The Government News announcement of 1 July 2026 names Masterise’s Long Thanh–Ho Tram expressway infrastructure company as investor. It describes a public-private partnership with estimated investment of 46,918 billion VND, six expressway lanes and parallel roads on both sides.
The ceremony formed part of Ho Chi Minh City’s program of major projects marking 50 years since the city was named after President Ho Chi Minh. A ceremonial start is useful news about the project, but it does not establish the amount of road completed or a guaranteed opening day.
The Endpoints Are Not the Airport Terminal and a Resort Lobby
The official report places the start at the connection with Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 4 and DT.991 in Tan Thanh. The end connects with DT.994, the Vung Tau–Binh Chau coastal road. Those details matter: the project contributes to airport-region connectivity through the wider road network. It is not described there as a single terminal-to-hotel road.
Your eventual transfer would still include access roads and the final approach to the chosen resort. Do not turn an expressway speed limit or a promotional journey estimate into a guaranteed door-to-door time.

2029 Is the Planned Completion Year
The government report says the project is expected to finish in 2029. It does not supply a confirmed public opening date for each section. This article therefore does not promise an earlier phased opening or tell travelers to book a 2029 itinerary around a road that has not yet been confirmed open.
Long Thanh Airport is another project with its own opening and airline-transition requirements. The Long Thanh Airport update explains the published phased plan and why you should check the airline’s actual arrival airport rather than assuming every international flight moves at once.
What Changes for a Ho Tram Booking Today?
The relevant booking details remain your flight, exact resort, passenger count and luggage. Use the current SGN–Ho Tram transfer options for published vehicle prices and the differences between a private transfer and a resort shuttle.
Better road access may make the coast easier to reach when the full connections are operating. It is not evidence that resort rates will rise, that quieter beaches will disappear, or that one destination will become the nearest beach for every flight. For planning the stay itself, start with the Ho Tram travel guide.
