Vietnam Welcomes 17.7 Million International Visitors in First Nine Months of 2026
Vietnam recorded 17.7 million international arrivals through September 2026; the national total is not a forecast of crowds at any one destination.
Vietnam received 17.7 million international visitors in the first nine months of 2026, up 14.5% from a year earlier, VnExpress reported on October 3. September arrivals reached 1.77 million: 16.5% above September 2025 but 11.3% below August. The month-on-month fall and year-on-year rise describe different comparisons, not a contradiction.

What the national total does—and does not—show
China was the largest source market in the nine-month tally, with 3.95 million visitors, followed by South Korea with about 3.05 million, according to the report. Those figures show how inbound demand was distributed nationally; they do not say how busy a particular city, attraction or travel date will be.
The increase also does not mean every destination experienced the same trend. September arrivals fell from August, while the year-on-year comparison remained positive. Travelers should use current, place-specific information when planning a visit rather than reading the national total as a crowd forecast.
