Saigon has some incredible tattoo artists, and prices here are a fraction of what you’d pay in London, LA, or Sydney — usually 3–4x cheaper. But there’s one thing that can make or break the experience: finding an artist who actually speaks English.
You need to explain your design. You need to understand the aftercare instructions. And honestly, sitting in silence for 3 hours while someone permanently marks your skin? Not ideal.
We’ve done the digging. Here are 8 English-speaking tattoo shops in Ho Chi Minh City that are clean, well-reviewed, and worth your money.
1. Saigon Ink

The OG of Saigon’s tattoo scene. Founder Danis Nguyen is featured in the World Atlas of Tattoo, and his 10-artist team covers pretty much every style: black & grey, neo-traditional, watercolor, geometric, Japanese.
Danis only takes 4–5 tattoos a week — he’s picky about his projects. Walk-ins are fine for other artists though. They take cards, and everyone speaks English.

2. ink.inc HCMC

Part of an international chain with 13,500+ five-star Google reviews. Located right on Bui Vien Walking Street. They open sterile packs in front of you, use vegan inks, and give you a firm quote before starting — no surprises.
Good pick if it’s your first tattoo and you want a clean, predictable experience. Open daily 11 AM till midnight.

3. Exile Ink
Where: Thao Dien, District 2

Note: Also has a studio on Phu Quoc Island
British-owned and British-run, in the expat-heavy Thao Dien neighborhood. If you want European hygiene standards and native English communication, this is your spot.
Second location on Phu Quoc makes them handy if you’re island-hopping and want a beach-plus-ink combo.
4. Recycle Tattoo

Run by Chi Hieu (Binx), this place is decorated with recycled materials and nostalgic junk — it’s part tattoo studio, part art gallery. 9 artists covering black lines, realism, watercolor, old-school. They’ve even got a café inside.
Singer Bao Anh gets her ink here. Lam Kity handles piercings too if you want both.
5. Morgan’s Ink
Where: 175 Bui Vien, District 1

Right on Bui Vien. Walk in, browse portfolios, get tattooed — no fuss. They’ve also got a studio in Hoi An (106 Tran Hung Dao) if you’re headed up the coast.
Tourist-friendly, English-speaking, and probably the most convenient option if you’re staying in the backpacker area.
6. Alchemist
Where: 2nd Floor, 135 Bui Vien, District 1

Booking: Appointment only — expect a wait
Two artists: Nhut Be (black line, ex-breakdancer, also a graffiti artist) and Jase (bold old-school). Tiny studio hidden above a restaurant on Bui Vien. People fly to Saigon just to get tattooed here.
Not for walk-ins. Book ahead, bring cash, and expect something special.
7. Sky Tattoo

Canadian-owned. Every artist speaks English. This one gets recommended constantly in Saigon expat groups — “professional, clean, welcoming” comes up again and again.
Slightly outside the tourist core in Phu Nhuan, but worth the Grab ride.
8. Monster Ink
Where: Tk28/49 Nguyen Canh Chan, Cau Kho Ward, District 1

Solo artist Tuyen Nguyen — the guy is unreal with flowers, watercolor, and geometric animal designs. Hidden down an alley off Cach Mang Thang Tam. Not easy to find, but his work speaks for itself.
Most clients are Viet Kieu who find him on Facebook and book months ahead. Worth the effort if you want something nature-inspired with vibrant color.

Before You Go
- Check Instagram first. Every artist posts their work. Find a style you actually like before booking.
- Bring reference photos. Even with perfect English, a picture says more than words.
- Get a firm quote upfront. Most shops quote per piece. Don’t start until you know the number.
- Watch them open the needle pack. If they don’t open it in front of you, leave.
- Book ahead for the popular artists. Danis at Saigon Ink and Nhut Be at Alchemist book weeks out. Don’t expect to walk in.
Aftercare — Saigon Is Hot and Humid
- Keep it covered for the first 24 hours
- Clean gently with mild, unscented soap
- Thin layer of ointment only — don’t drown it (the humidity does enough)
- No swimming, no sauna, no direct sun for 2 weeks minimum
- Loose clothes over the tattooed area

You don’t need to overthink it. If you want the safest bet, go with ink.inc — international standards, transparent pricing, right on Bui Vien. If you want something special and have time, book Saigon Ink or Alchemist.
