Ho Chi Minh City, commonly known as Saigon, is a major port city in Vietnam. 3 main ports in Ho Chi Minh City cruises usually dock:
- Phu My Port
- Hiep Phuoc Port
- Nha Rong Port (Saigon Port)
It’s important to note that large cruise ships cannot dock directly in Ho Chi Minh City due to the shallow waters of the Saigon River. Instead, they typically dock at Phu My, a deep-water port located about 2 hours away by road from Ho Chi Minh City. Phu My serves as the primary port for cruise ships visiting the region. Hiep Phuoc Port, may also be used, especially for smaller cruise ships or river cruises. However, it’s less common compared to Phu My and is also not situated directly in the city but requires a drive to reach central Ho Chi Minh City.
Nha Rong Port is sometimes used, particularly for smaller cruise ships or river cruises, due to its location closer to the city center compared to Phu My Port. Its proximity to downtown Ho Chi Minh City makes it a convenient docking location for accessing the city’s attractions, cultural sites, and amenities. However, it’s important to note that the majority of large ocean-going cruise ships cannot dock at Nha Rong Port due to its limitations in size and depth.
