Vietnam Airports Handle Nearly 102 Million Passengers in First Nine Months of 2026
Airport traffic rose 12% in January–September. International and domestic journeys are included; this is not the count of foreign visitor arrivals.
Vietnam’s airports handled nearly 102 million passengers in the first nine months of 2026, an increase of 12% from a year earlier. The total covers domestic and international air travel; it is not a count of foreign tourists entering Vietnam.
International airport passenger traffic exceeded 39 million, up 14%, while domestic traffic was above 62 million, up 11%, in the figures attributed to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam.

Airport traffic and airline totals are different measures
Vietnamese airlines carried more than 46 million passengers during January–September, an increase of more than 8%. Within that carrier total, international passengers were nearly 15 million, up 3%, and domestic passengers exceeded 31 million, up 11%.
Those airline figures should not be added to the airport passenger total. They describe a different reporting scope, and neither should be substituted for Vietnam’s international visitor-arrival statistics.
In September alone, airports handled 12.5 million passengers, 37% more than in September 2025. Air cargo throughput for the first nine months reached 1.4 million tonnes, up more than 10%, while September airport cargo exceeded 168,000 tonnes.
Growth figures are not a new travel requirement
The release shows growth in aviation traffic, but it does not change a passenger’s visa conditions, baggage allowance or booked terminal. Nor does a national traffic total establish the queue length or connection time at a particular airport on a particular day.
For the separate tourism measure, read our report on Vietnam’s international visitor arrivals. Travelers preparing a domestic flight can consult the baggage and airport check-in overview, checking the current terms of their own airline and ticket.
