So Phu Quoc is trending. Skyscanner ranked it #2 in the world for 2026. Vogue named it one of Asia’s top destinations. And honestly? It actually lives up to the hype.
But here’s the thing — not everything on the island is worth your time. Some attractions are genuinely world-class. Others? Overpriced tourist traps you can skip.
We spent time digging into what’s actually worth doing, what it costs in real VND, and what nobody tells you before you book.
1. Hon Thom Cable Car
Where: An Thoi, southern Phu Quoc
Price: 600,000 – 800,000 VND (round trip)
Duration: 8 km, ~15 minutes each way
Best time: Late afternoon for sunset views
You glide over turquoise water, past tiny islands dotted with fishing boats. The cable car stretches nearly 8 km across the sea — it’s one of the longest over-water cable car rides in the world. And the views are ridiculous.
At the other end is Hon Thom Island, where you’ll find Sun World Hon Thom Nature Park. There’s a water park, restaurants, and plenty of spots to just sit and stare at the ocean.

- Add lunch buffet for an extra 200,000 VND per person
- Go in the late afternoon — the light over the water is incredible
- Weekends are busy. Mornings are quietest
2. Sunset Town & Kiss Bridge
Where: An Thoi, near the cable car station
Price: Free to walk around; Kiss the Stars show 230,000 VND
Best time: 4 PM onwards for sunset
Sunset Town looks like it was airlifted from the Amalfi Coast and dropped into southern Vietnam. Colorful Mediterranean-style buildings line a pedestrian-only promenade, all leading to Kiss Bridge — two separate walkways that almost meet over the sea.
It sounds gimmick-y, and yeah, it kind of is. But the execution is good. The bridge genuinely makes for stunning photos at golden hour, and the Kiss the Stars show in the evening is a proper production with lights, music, and fire effects.
- Walking around is free — no ticket needed for the town itself
- Kiss Bridge entry before 4 PM: 100,000 VND; after 4 PM: 200,000 VND
- Kiss the Stars evening show: 230,000 VND (standard), 335,000 VND (VIP)

3. Phu Quoc Night Market
Where: Duong Dong Town center
Hours: 3 PM – 11:30 PM daily (busiest after 6 PM)
Price: Free entry; food from 20,000 – 200,000+ VND per dish
The night market is chaos in the best way. The smell of grilled seafood hits you a block away. Stalls piled high with squid, scallops, shrimp, sea urchins — you pick what you want, they grill it in front of you, and you eat it standing up at a tiny plastic table.
A guy from Melbourne told us he came back three nights in a row. “I had the best grilled scallops of my life here,” he said. “And I spent less than 300,000 VND.”
- Must-try: grilled scallops with scallion oil, squid on a stick, and sea urchin
- Bring cash — most stalls don’t take cards
- Bargaining is fine for souvenirs, less so for food prices
- Phu Quoc fish sauce and pearl jewelry make good take-home gifts
4. Island Hopping & Snorkeling
Where: An Thoi Archipelago (15+ small islands)
Price: Boat tours from 500,000 – 2,200,000 VND per person
Includes: Snorkeling gear, lunch, transfer from hotel
You haven’t really seen Phu Quoc until you’ve been out on the water. The An Thoi Archipelago has over 15 tiny islands, and the water around them is that impossible shade of turquoise you usually only see in screensavers.
Most tours hit 3-4 islands, stopping for snorkeling at coral reefs, lunch on a secluded beach, and maybe a quick stop to walk across a sandbar that only appears at low tide.

5. VinWonders & Vinpearl Safari
Where: Northwest Phu Quoc (Bai Dai area)

Hours: Daily 9 AM – 7:30 PM
Two massive parks run by Vinpearl. VinWonders is Vietnam’s largest theme park — think roller coasters, a water park, an aquarium, and daily shows. Vinpearl Safari is a wildlife conservation park with over 3,000 animals roaming in semi-open enclosures.
They’re not cheap, but they’re genuinely well-run. The safari is particularly impressive — you ride an open-top bus through habitats where zebras and giraffes walk right up to the vehicle.

6. Phu Quoc National Park
Where: Covers over 50% of the island’s northern half

Best time: Early morning (6-9 AM), before the heat kicks in
Half of Phu Quoc is protected rainforest. Most visitors never see it — they stick to the beaches and resorts. But the national park is where you’ll find the island’s real character.
Hiking trails wind through dense forest, past streams and waterfalls (Suoi Tranh being the most accessible, though it only flows during rainy season). You’ll hear birds you’ve never heard before, and if you’re lucky, you might spot the Phu Quoc langur — a primate found nowhere else on earth.
- Suoi Tranh Waterfall entrance: just 10,000 VND
- Guided trekking recommended — trails aren’t well marked
- Bring bug spray, water, and good shoes
- ‘Cua Duong’ trail is the most popular — moderate difficulty, stunning views
7. Sao Beach & The Best Beaches
Where: Southeast coast (Sao Beach, Khem Beach); West coast (Long Beach); North (Ong Lang, Rach Vem)
Price: Free; water activities from 350,000 – 650,000 VND
Let’s be real — people come to Phu Quoc for the beaches. And the beaches deliver. Sao Beach has that postcard-worthy white sand and water so clear you can see your toes at chest depth. Khem Beach, just south, is quieter but hemmed in by luxury resorts.
For sunset, Long Beach is where you want to be. Grab a coconut, find a spot on the sand, and watch the sky turn orange and pink. It’s free, it’s simple, and it beats any paid attraction on the island.

- Khem Beach: quieter, more exclusive (surrounded by 5-star resorts)
- Long Beach: best for sunset, longest stretch of sand on the island

8. Ham Ninh Fishing Village
Where: East coast, ~20 km from Duong Dong
Price: Free entry; seafood meals from 100,000 VND
Best time: Early morning or late afternoon
Ham Ninh is the opposite of Sunset Town. No Italian-inspired architecture, no light shows. Just a working fishing village with stilted houses over the water, where fishermen mend their nets and grandmothers sell the morning’s catch from wooden boats.
Restaurants here are basic — plastic chairs, concrete floors — but the seafood is the freshest on the island. You pick your crab or fish from the tank, they steam or grill it, and you eat it overlooking the bay. No fuss. Just incredible food.

- Go early (7-9 AM) to see the catch come in
- Try the steamed crab with salt-pepper-lime dipping sauce

Before You Go
- Visa: Many nationalities get 30 days visa-free when flying directly to Phu Quoc. Double-check your country’s status before booking.
- Getting around: Taxis are reliable but add up. Motorbike rental is 150,000 – 200,000 VND/day. Only do this if you’re confident riding in Vietnam.
- Best time: November to April (dry season). June is rainy season but you’ll get short showers, not all-day rain, and far fewer crowds.
- Cash: Bring enough for markets, taxis, and smaller restaurants. Cards work at hotels and bigger establishments but not everywhere.
- Free bus: VinBus runs free shuttles between Duong Dong and major attractions (VinWonders, Safari, Grand World, Sunset Town, Hon Thom). Check their schedule at your hotel.
The Short Version
Phu Quoc is worth the hype. But skip the generic “island tour” packages and pick what actually fits your style. The cable car, the night market, and a day on the water are non-negotiable. The rest depends on whether you’re here for adventure, relaxation, or food.
