The Grand Ho Tram Strip is already Vietnam’s biggest integrated resort. But it’s about to get much, much bigger. A $1 billion expansion broke ground in 2025 — part of a $4.2 billion master plan — and it’s going to change what ‘Ho Tram’ means on the international tourism map.
What’s Happening
The Grand Ho Tram opened in 2013 with an initial investment of $500 million. In 2025, they started a $1 billion expansion that adds new hotels, more convention space, expanded casino facilities, and more entertainment options. The total master plan is valued at $4.2 billion.
In 2025, The Grand became the first resort in Vietnam to win ‘Best Integrated Resort’ at the industry awards in Bangkok — beating out properties from Macau, Singapore, and the Philippines. Vietnam has never been in that conversation before.
Why This Matters
Three things make this expansion significant:
- Scale: A $4.2 billion integrated resort puts Ho Tram on the same map as properties in Macau and Singapore. This isn’t a local casino — it’s being built to attract international high-rollers and convention business.
- Local gaming pilot: Vietnam has historically banned its own citizens from casinos. The Grand Ho Tram is part of a pilot program that allows Vietnamese locals to gamble — a major policy shift that unlocks a huge domestic market.
- Infrastructure synergy: Long Thanh International Airport opens this December. The Ho Tram–Long Thanh Expressway breaks ground now. The Grand’s expansion is betting on all of this — and when all three are operational, Ho Tram won’t just be ‘that beach near Saigon.’ It’ll be a destination in its own right.
What Travelers Should Expect
If you’re visiting in 2026-2027, you’ll see construction. It shouldn’t affect your stay much — the existing hotels (InterContinental, Holiday Inn Resort, Ixora) are fully operational. The Bluffs golf course is open. The casino is running. But the place will look different in 3-5 years.
For travelers, the expansion means more hotel choices, more restaurants, and — eventually — higher prices as Ho Tram moves upmarket. The window to visit while it’s still relatively under-the-radar is closing. Our complete Ho Tram guide covers everything you need to plan a trip now.
The Short Version
The Grand Ho Tram is mid-way through a billion-dollar glow-up. Combined with the new airport and expressway, Ho Tram in 2030 won’t look anything like Ho Tram in 2026. Visit soon if you want to see it before it becomes the next Macau.
